About the Artist
Suzanne Unrein’s approach to painting is that of a contemporary artist interested in investigating the fine line between representation and abstraction – color, form, and composition are the issues that engage her. Inspired by the Baroque and Rococo master painters who confronted the same issues in exploring the limits of representation, as well as by her recent collaboration with world-renowned Lion Whisperer Kevin Richardson, she creates Garden of Eden-like environments in which humans and wild animals co-exist side-by-side in a world of vibrant color and sensual energy. Suzanne has exhibited extensively in California, New York, and Texas, and her paintings have been featured in several prominent full-length films and television shows. She was recently awarded a fellowship by the Jentel Foundation for a residency in Banner, Wyoming during the spring of 2015.
